Malala Yousafzai Highlights Afghan Women’s Struggle

World

Malala Yousafzai has spoken out approximately the worsening plight of Afghan girls under Taliban rule at the same time as selling her Apple tv+ documentary, Bread & Roses. In a BBC Asian network interview, Malala described the dire situation as “hopeless” and condemned the Taliban’s oppressive regulations, especially on schooling, which she referred to as the inspiration of girls’s rights.

The film, directed by Sahra Mani, highlights the resilience of 3 Afghan women—a dentist, an activist, and a central authority worker—who face the loss of their careers and independence. Malala hopes their tales encourage international aid for Afghan girls, stressing the urgency of movement.

Bread & Roses, co-produced with Jennifer Lawrence, streams international on November 22.
